At this time there is three seperate wreath laying events for veterans this year. They are:
Ft. Snelling National Cemetery
Minnesota Wing Civil Air Patrol invites you to join us in 2013 at any of the wreath-laying ceremonies to be held concurrently on Saturday, December 14th 2013 at 1100 hours local time. A ceremony will be conducted at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at the Main Flagpole and consists of a moment of silence, followed by a brief address and placement of wreaths at each military service branch monument flagpole. Following this we will move to selected sections to decorate gravestones.
Wreaths Across Redwood County
Saturday the 14th of December, there will be a Wreaths across Redwood County. The ceremony is about 25 minutes and will begin at noon sharp. In Wabasso, this will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial in front of the Legion/Community Center. Open to the public.
Wreaths For The Fallen at Little Falls Veteran Cemetery
As the sun rises on Saturday, December 14th there will be several semi trucks loaded with wreaths to be placed on the veteran’s graves in a few hours. Dozens of volunteers will be on hand to unload and stage the wreaths in the various sections at the cemetery. Preparations will be underway to prepare hot beverages and refreshments for the many people that will arrive shortly to assist in the ceremony and wreath laying.
Shortly after 12 noon the task will be complete. A sea of fresh Balsam wreaths with a big red bow will cover all the veterans’ graves.
Everyone is invited to the ceremony and wreath placement on Saturday, December 14th. It is suggested to arrive before 10 am to get parked and warm up inside before the ceremony starts at 11 am sharp. Wreath placement begins at about 11:20 am.
