About AFSA Chapter 858

The Voice of the Air Force Enlisted

Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) Chapter 858 is centered in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The coverage of Chapter 858 extends South into Iowa, East into Wisconsin and West to the Dakotas. The primary Air Force units within the chapter coverage is the 133rd Airlift Wing (ANG), the 342nd Recruiting Squadron and the 934th Airlift Wing (AFRC).

The AFSA was founded in 1961 by four Air Force NCOs who recognized the need for an organization to represent the voice of all enlisted personnel to America’s elected and military leaders. AFSA founders Benny McGehee, Lee Thompson, Virgil Perry and Don Ward established the association, and McGehee later became the first president, becoming the first representative of an all-enlisted organization to give testimony before the House Armed Services Committee.

Effective January 2013, AFSA HQ reorganized the divisions. Chapter 858 now falls under Division 3 which covers Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Division 3 reports to AFSA HQ.
